Where's Waldo?

11/30/11 - Screenwriter Todd Berger will adapt the children's book series Where's Waldo? into a film for MGM, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Created by illustrator Martin Handford, the books feature Waldo, dressed in a red-and-white shirt and carrying a walking stick, hidden in plain sight amid crowded scenes.  MGM picked up film rights in early November following unsuccessful efforts by Paramount/Nickelodeon and Chris Meledandri's Illumination Entertainment. The Paramount/Nickelodeon project would have featured Waldo, a grown man, traveling through various eras after accidentally activating a time machine, but MGM is keeping the story of its project under wraps.

11/7/11 - MGM has secured rights to Classic Media's Where's Waldo?, giving the lanky, striped-shirt wearing character his first movie ever, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  The Where's Waldo? movie will be a live-action family adventure, with MGM's vp of production, Cassidy Lange, overseeing the project, which will be produced by Mike Gornall.  Where's Waldo? was created by Martin Handford and first published in 1987. In the books, readers search for Waldo among various characters or situations.
