War Heroes 10/21/11 - Universal is in negotiations to pick up War Heroes, the project based on the Mark Millar-Tony Harris comic book, according to The Holly wood Reporter. Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are in negotiations to write the script. Michael De Luca, Chris Morgan and Trigger Street’s Dana Brunetti are attached to produce. The story centers on a U.S. military experimental program developed in light of dwindling enlistments and the expanding war on terrorism that gives ordinary soldiers superpowers. When a rogue group of the super-soldiers breaks off to form a criminal enterprise, one hero rises from their ranks to prevent catastrophic results. Millar and Harris are serving as executive producers.
9/29/08 - Sony has picked up Mark Millar and Tony Harris' superhero military comic book War Heroes for Michael De Luca to produce, Variety reported. Sony's Columbia Pictures unit is currently seeking a writer to adapt the books, which revolve around an experimental military program that gives ordinary soldiers superpowers. When a small group of recruits break off to use these powers for a criminal enterprise, a hero rises from their ranks to prevent catastrophic results. Several studios had been vying for the six-part property, which began publishing in June through Image Comics.
9/19/08 - Comic writer Mark Millar (Wanted, Kick-Ass) updated fans on his official bulletin board about the status of a film adaptation of his War Heroes comic, which is reportedly out to studios.
