Transformers 4

2/13/12 - Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Michael Bay are reuniting for a sequel in the Transformers movie series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Transformers franchise will be released June 29, 2014, director Michael Bay announced Monday on his website.  “Michael’s going to direct it,” Di Bonaventura said. “It will be in the summer of 2014.”  Di Bonaventura said that he and Bay were still in early stages of development process, but they wanted to reinvent the saga to pave the way for a new mythology.  “I think we really are going to do a reboot there,” Di Bonaventura said. “[But] what that’s going to be, we don’t even know yet…. We’ve got to get a story first.” The producer indicated that none of the cast of the original three are signed for a sequel, but it’s likely that he and Bay would create at least a few new characters for the film. “It’s a hybrid because there’s still continuity going on, and there will be a lot of new cast,” he said. “Whether there’s anybody from the first cast, we don’t even know yet. But it’s going to be a whole new story.  But the characters that would certainly come along would be Optimus and Bumblebee, I’m sure.”

10/17/11 - Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said Monday that the toy giant is in active discussions with studio partner Paramount, director Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg about a potential fourth Transformers movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Speaking on his company's third-quarter earnings conference call, he also said that Hasbro continues to develop entertainment projects based on its brands - despite some delays and challenges. "We continue to actively develop a number of additional Hasbro films with great partners and writers, including Micronauts, Ouija, Candyland, Risk, Stretch Armstrong, Clue and Monopoly," he said.  Asked about the state of Hasbro's movie plans after Universal previously dropped a planned Ouija film due to budget concerns, Goldner said the partners are still working on Stretch Armstrong and Candyland and have Battleship coming out next year, putting the company in good shape.
