The Thirteenth Hour
3/4/09 - Michael Brandt and Derek Haas have signed on to adapt Richard Doetsch's upcoming time-travel novel The Thirteenth Hour for New Line Cinema and producer Michael De Luca, Variety reported.  New Line acquired the book last fall. The story follows a man accused of murdering his wife who gets to go back in time—in one-hour increments over 12 hours—with the chance to stop his wife's killer. The novel will be published by Atria.  The writing team of Brandt and Haas most recently adapted the Robert Ludlum thriller The Matarese Circle. The MGM film, to be directed by David Cronenberg, is shaping up as a potential pairing of Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise.

9/9/08 - New Line Cinema has made a pre-emptive acquisition of The Thirteenth Hour, a time-travel novel by Richard Doetsch, Variety reported.  Michael De Luca will produce the film, one of his first New Line projects since leaving his post as production president eight years ago.  Described as a cross between The Bourne Identity and The Time Traveler's Wife, Thirteenth follows a man accused of brutally murdering his wife who is given a chance to save her by going back in time in one-hour increments.
