The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D 7/19/11 - Grammy-nominated R&B artist Trey Songz has signed to play one of the leads in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Songz will play the male lead and the boyfriend of Alexandra Daddario in the Millennium/Nu Image film. John Luessenhop is directing, which was written by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan. The horror movie shoots later this month in Shreveport, Louisiana. Producers are hoping to not only reboot the franchise but to also to break a group of fresh-faced actors.
7/6/11 - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will arrive in 3-D in October 2012 from director John Luessenhop and producer Carl Mazzocone. "I'm excited to re-conceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy," Mazzocone said. "Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D." Luessenhop has been attached to the project since April, when it was reported that screenwriter Kirsten Elms would rewrite the script. Reportedly, the script will immediately follow Hooper's original movie and will ignore the other sequels, prequels, and remake as it follows a relative returning to the family and go back to the theme of cannibalism, but none of that has been confirmed. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will open on October 5, 2012, about three weeks before 3-D horror sequel Halloween 3D, which received its October 26, 2012, release date last month.
