The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft 9/28/09 – SCI FI Wire reported that Ron Howard may direct a movie adaptation of The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft, which is an Image Comics series that places the horror author in the middle of one of his own stories, kind of a supernatural detective a la Constantine, the Los Angeles Times reports. "It very cleverly uses H.P. Lovecraft in a fictional way, but there's some loose biographical elements. But it certainly has the flavor and the tone of Lovecraft," Howard said. "The character is a very young Lovecraft."
3/26/09 - Universal has bought the film rights to The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft, Image Comics' graphic novel, created by Mac Carter and Jeff Blitz, Variety reported. The graphic novel borrows elements from Lovecraft's life, such as his family's struggle with mental illness and his own bouts with writer's block, and transforms the young writer's darkest nightmares into reality when he comes across a book that puts a curse on him and lets the evils he conjures up loose on the world. Carter will pen the script and serve as executive producer alongside Blitz. Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are producers.
