The Au Pair (The Sitter)

10/7/10 - The Sitter, a novel by horror writer R.L. Stine, will be adapted as a feature film to be titled The Au Pair, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Ghost House Pictures, the joint venture between filmmaker Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Mandate Pictures' Nathan Kahane, has picked up movie rights to the book.  Au Pair follows a young woman who runs from a troubled relationship by spending a fun-filled, romantic summer as a nanny in a posh Hamptons beach house. The dream job takes a frightening turn when she uncovers a dark secret that haunts her and the kids she has sworn to protect.  The book was published in July 2003.  Ghost House has tapped Dana Stevens to write the adaptation.

 

1/8/10 - Furst Films has bought feature rights to R.L. Stine's The Sitter, centered on horror in the Hamptons.  Sean Furst and Bryan Furst will produce along with longtime Stine collaborators Yvonne Bernard and Beth Hawk. Stine -- best known for penning the "Goosebumps" series -- will exec produce along with Jane Stine and Ann Blanchard.  The Sitter is focused on a young woman who takes a summer job as a nanny to a 4-year-old who hasn't spoken for months and is seemingly haunted by something too horrible for words.
