The Man in the High Castle

10/7/10 – Blastr.com reported that Ridley Scott has his eyes on adapting another Philip K. Dick novel as a four-part BBC miniseries.  Ridley's Scott Free Productions has teamed up with Freemantle, Headline Pictures and Electric Shepherd to adapt The Man in the High Castle, Dick's 1962 novel set 14 years after a World War II in which the U.S. was defeated by Japan and Germany.  Scott said, “It's a joy and a privilege to be back in Dick's world. I've been a lifelong fan. He is the master of creating worlds which not only spark the imagination, but offer deeper commentary on the human condition. Howard is one of Britain's most highly regarded writers and will bring even more depth to Dick's classic.”  Howard Brenton is at work on the screenplay. No word yet on who might be directing, or whether there's a chance Scott might choose to direct himself.
