The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

12/8/11 - Guy Ritchie and Lionel Wigram are in talks to come aboard Warner Bros.’ Man from U.N.C.L.E., according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Ritchie would direct with the duo producing via their recently formed, Warners-based shingle.  Steven Soderbergh was to direct the project but dropped out in mid-November due to casting and budgetary issues. The project shouldn’t lose any steam though, since it was well-developed and was teed up to go next year. 

 

11/17/10 - Steven Soderbergh is in early talks to take over directing duties on The Man From U.N.C.L.E. film at Warner Bros, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  He would bringing with him Scott Z. Burns.  Warners has been working on a big-screen adaptation of the "U.N.C.L.E." TV series since the 1990s.  "U.N.C.L.E." aired on NBC from 1964-68, during a Cold War period that saw numerous spy shows hit the airwaves.

 

4/14/10 - Warner Brothers has hired Max Borenstein to write a new draft of a screenplay for a movie version of The Man From U.N.C.L.E., the campy 1960s spy TV show, The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog reported; David Dobkin is attached to direct the project.
