The Crow 6/22/11 - Alex Tse is attached to write the screenplay for The Crow, which Relativity is mounting as what it calls a “reinvention” of the 1994 film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is set to direct the film in which Bradley Cooper is attached to star as Eric Draven, who returns from the grave as The Crow and sets out to avenge his wife’s murder. Relativity and Edward R. Pressman Film Corp. are teaming with Spain-based Apaches Entertainment on the production. The movie will be produced by Edward R. Pressman, Jeff Most, Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh and Apaches’ Enrique López Lavigne and Belén Atienza.
4/7/11 - Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has been tapped to direct Relativity's remake of The Crow, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is being produced by Edward R. Pressman, Jeff Most, Relativity's CEO Ryan Kavanaugh and Apaches Entertainment's Enrique Lopez Lavigne and Belen Atienza. The story follows a rock musician who is murdered while trying to save his fiancee from thugs. He is resurrected by supernatural forces and seeks revenge. Jose Ibanez, Pressman Film Corp.'s Jon Katz and Apaches' Jesus de la Vega will serve as co-producers.
10/20/10 - According to Entertainment Weekly, Mark Wahlberg is in talks to reprise Brandon Lee's lead character role, The Crow. Much like the original, the plot for the reboot would focus on a rock musician who comes back from beyond the grave to extract revenge on the thugs who murdered him and his fiancee. Stephen Norrington will direct and write the new film, which is expected to begin production in winter 2011.
12/15/08 - Stephen Norrington has signed on to write and direct a reinvention of The Crow, based on the comic created by James O’Barr, Variety reported.
