The Amazing Spider-Man 2

6/17/13 - Sony Pictures Entertainment is planting its flag on two future release dates of Spider-Man, it was announced by Jeff Blake, Chairman, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for Sony Pictures. The next two films in the story of Peter Parker will be released on June 10, 2016, and on May 4, 2018, respectively.  Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, “Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we’re thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years.”

 

2/27/13 - Chris Cooper has been cast as Norman Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Dane DeHaan has already been cast as Harry Osborn, who is Norman's son and Parker's best friend.  Spider-Man, played by Andrew Garfield, will have his hands full in his next big-screen adventure, as it's been previously announced that he'll be facing off against Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as the Rhino.  The teenage superhero will also be juggling multiple romantic relationships, too. Emma Stone is returning as Gwen Stacy, while Shailene Woodley is portraying Mary Jane Watson.  Source: TheWrap.com

 

1/29/13 - Paul Giamatti may become the Rhino in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.  The actor is in talks to join alongside Jamie Foxx as the villain Electro and Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson. Felicity Jones is in talks to appear in the film.  The Rhino has augmented strength and polymer mat suit and horn.  Source: TheWrap.com

 

12/3/12 - Dane DeHaan has joined the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man Columbia Pictures announced.   DeHann will play Harry Osborn, the best friend of Peter Parker who eventually becomes his Spider-Man's nemesis the Green Goblin in the comic book series.  Source: TheWrap.com

12/3/12 - Jamie Foxx said he will definitely be starring in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.  "Electro is a great character," Jamie said.  "I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked. … I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he's a … genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on."  Plus, Webb alluded to the super-villain being a part of the next movie while promoting the upcoming release of The Amazing Spider-Man on Blu-ray.  Source: ETOnline.com 

10/10/12 - Shailene Woodley may join Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man 2.  Woodley has been offered the role of Mary Jane Watson, the perennial red-headed love interest of Pater Parker in the Spider-Man comics. The studio also closed deals with Garfield to reprise the title role and Emma Stone to return as Gwen Stacy.  Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the sequel. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci wrote the latest draft of the script, which is being kept locked tight. The studio has not yet revealed who the villain will be.  Source:  The Hollywood Reporter

 

9/28/12 - Andrew Garfield will officially be returning for the next Spider-Man movie with director Marc Webb.  Emma Stone is also in talks to return as Gwen Stacy.  The new film will begin production in early 2013 with a script by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt.  The film will be in 3D and is set for release on May 2, 2014.  Source: ETOnline

 

6/27/12 - Sony is already planning a sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Sony had tapped writing team Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to work the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with a release date set for May 2, 2014.

 

8/5/11 - Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man won't hit theaters until July 3, 2012, but the studio is already mapping out plans for a sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  The studio penciled in a release date for the second film on May 2, 2014.  The new, revamped Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb, stars Andrew Garfield in the iconic role of Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego Spider-Man.  The studio has already lined up James Vanderbilt to begin work on its sequel.
