Super 12/22/09 - Kevin Bacon has been announced to join the cast of Super, according to Variety. Bacon will star in the superhero comedy, directed and penned by James Gunn, alongside Liv Tyler, Ellen Page and Rainn Wilson. Kevin will play a drug dealer named Jacques, who destroys Rainn's character's life by seducing his troubled wife (played by Liv). The jilted husband then transforms himself into a superhero, with Juno star Ellen as his sidekick.
9/30/09 – SCI FI Wire reported that James Gunn’s next film Super, starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page, plays with the superhero genre. Wilson plays a regular Joe who dons a costume to fight crime, only he has no superpowers. Page said Super exists in our world. "It's actually really based in reality, and a really grounded screenplay," Page spoke. "It's about if someone in just a really raw way was, like, 'I'm going to be a superhero.' And that's who Rainn plays." Page added, “James Gunn's script is very much like just if you decided to be a superhero and did what superheroes do, but basically your weapon's a lead pipe. Like, what would people think?" Super is reportedly beginning production in December.
9/11/09 - Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler are set to star in Super, a comedy about an average guy who takes on the pseudo-superhero alter ego of the Crimson Bolt, after watching his wife (Tyler) fall under the spell of a charming drug dealer, Variety reported.
