4/26/12 - Brendan Gleeson and JB Smoove join Christina Ricci in Smurfs 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Gleeson joins the cast as Patrick Winslow's stepfather Victor Doyle, while moove will voice the new character, Hackus, who is described as naughty.  Raja Gosnell will return to helm the second film. Producer Jordan Kerner and executive producer Ezra Swerdlow will also be back.  Cast members that are returning for the sequel include Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria, Katy Perry, Jonathan Winters, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Anton Yelchin and John Oliver.

8/9/11 - Sony Pictures is moving forward with a Smurf sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Jordan Kerner will return as producer of the project.  The Smurfs has grossed $78.8 domestically and $135 million worldwide to date.
