- Doug Jones, who played the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four:
Rise of the Silver Surfer, told fans at New York Comic Con that
a spinoff movie centering on his character is only a rumor at this
point. "I don't have any information that you haven't read on the
Internet," Jones said. "As it stands with a franchise-type
character like that, I did sign a three-picture deal, so I have two
more pictures where they have the option to use me, and I hope they
do," Jones added. "I've heard the same rumors about J. Michael
Straczynski writing a script, and I hope that's true. Let's hope we
see the Silver Surfer in his own movie real soon."
10/30/07 - The Los Angeles Times reported in June that Fox hired Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski to write the script for a solo Silver Surfer film. It has also been rumored that Australian director Alex Proyas may be directing.
