6/4/09 - Dimension Films has tapped Robot Chicken writer Dan Milano to draft the script for Short Circuit, the remake of the 1986 sci-fi comedy, Variety reported.  The original movie was about Number 5, an armed robot who acquires a personality after a lightning strike and seeks the help of humans to prevent his destruction by the military.  He will bring a subversive edge to the original film, which was written by S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock.  David Foster, who produced the original and is back to produce the remake with Ryan E. Heppe and John Hyde, said that Milano first watched the original while he was in high school and sparked to updating the concept.

03/31/08 - Dimension Films has acquired remake rights to the 1986 SF comedy film Short Circuit, about Number 5, a military robot that develops a conscience and personality after being hit by lightning.  S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, who created the characters and wrote both Short Circuit films, have been hired to write the remake. David Foster and Ryan E. Heppe will produce with John Hyde.
