Poltergeist

10/15/09 – SCI FI Wire reported that MGM is postponing Poltergeist, original slated for a Thanksgiving 2010 release.  The film will go into production in early 2010.  The movie's been bumped to an undetermined 2011 date.  Vadim Perelman will direct the movie, which will presumably revisit the story of a suburban family whose house is haunted by the spirits from an old Indian burial ground. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White drafted the screenplay.

8/13/09 - ShockTillYouDrop.com reports that MGM's planned remake of Tobe Hooper's classic '80s haunted-house movie Poltergeist has received a release date of Nov. 24, 2010, Thanksgiving weekend.

9/2/08 - The Hollywood Reporter confirmed a report that first appeared on Bloody-Disgusting.com that Vadim Perelman is in negotiations to develop MGM's Poltergeist remake as a potential directing vehicle.  The deal would bring the helmer together with writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, who were hired last week to revamp the 1982 classic.  The original was directed by Tobe Hooper from a script co-written by Steven Spielberg. The Ukraine-born Perelman once was attached to Spielberg's endlessly developing Talisman project, adapted from the Stephen King-Peter Straub novel.

8/20/08 - Boogeyman writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White will pen MGM's planned remake of Poltergeist, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
