8/21/09 – SCI FI Wire reported that Mr. Nobody, a sci-fi film
starring Jared Leto and Diane Kruger, will compete in the Venice
Film Festival. Leto plays a 120-year-old man reflecting on his life
from a perspective in the future. "Mr. Nobody was just
selected in the Venice Film Festival, so I'm going to go to that,"
Kruger said. "You see Jared Leto, he's 120 when the movie starts,
and it's all in flashbacks," Kruger explained. The memories include
alternate versions of events from the main character's life. "Like
his memory of what would have been, what was not, people that he met
along the way or may not have." Kruger will play one of the women
he meets along the way. "It's a big love story, and I play sort of a
punk," she said. Views of the future will be confined to the aging
man's deathbed. "We don't really ever go into the future unless we
see him, but he's about to die, basically," she said. Jaco van
Dormael directed Mr. Nobody from his own screenplay.
