Indiana Jones 5 6/11/10 - Frank Marshall tweeted this week about Indiana Jones 5. Marshall, who was a producer not just of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Marshall wrote, “The rumor about INDY 5 is completely false. Nothing has changed, we are not shooting next year and still in the research phase..." Bummer, or was this leak part of the research phase?
6/9/10 - Stuff magazine reported that the next Indiana Jones film will really be the last. Harrison Ford has agreed to come back as the archaeologist and adventurer one more time, and will be given an "emotional and exciting" sendoff. Indiana Jones 5 will supposedly begin shooting next year, and much of the plot line will revolve around the Bermuda Triangle. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have been working on a script. Shia LaBeouf, who played Indiana's son Mutt Williams, will also appear in the new installment.
6/19/09 - Producer Frank Marshall has confirmed another Indiana Jones movie is indeed in the works. "The story for Indy 5 is progressing," Marshall tweeted. "It is still in the research phase." As told to Empire Magazine, "It's really about the script," said Marshall. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!"
6/17/09 - Shia LaBeouf told BBC News that a new Indiana Jones movie is in the works and that director Steven Spielberg has come up with a story. "Steven just said that he cracked the story on it before I left, and I think they're gearing that up," LaBeouf said. No word on whether LaBeouf will actually appear in it or reprise the role of "Mutt" Williams from the last film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
10/6/08 - Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford told the Los Angeles Times that momentum is already building for a fifth movie. "It's automatic, really; we did well with the last one, and with that having done well and been a positive experience, it's not surprising that some people want to do it again."
8/5/08 - George Lucas said recently that preliminary research has begun on a story for a possible fifth Indiana Jones movie. "It sits on the shelf there as one of 50 projects that I have to deal with," Lucas said. But, Lucas added: "It's very hard to come up with stories for that thing. You know, It's really impossible. Because it has to be real. It has to be something that actually happened. It has to be something people know about. It has to be supernatural. It's a really difficult research project. Which they're researching now. You know, and last time it took 14 years." In recent press interviews, Lucas has said that the three principals--himself, director Steven Spielberg and star Harrison Ford--all have to agree on the idea for a fifth film to move forward. He has also said that Spielberg is more amenable to the idea of a further installment than he was last time around.
05/19/08 - George Lucas said recently that it's more than a strong possibility there will be a fifth Indiana Jones movie. Lucas said that he and director Steven Spielberg have left the door open for another sequel. "I haven't even told Steven or Harrison Ford this," Lucas said. "But I have an idea to make Shia LeBeouf the lead character next time and have Harrison come back, like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out."
