I, Frankenstein 10/7/11 - Aaron Eckhart will star in Lionsgate's I, Frankenstein, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Eckhart will play Adam Frankenstein. Stuart Beattie wrote the screenplay, and will direct the film. I, Frankenstein is based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. The feature, centered on Frankenstein's creature Adam as he finds himself in a centuries-old war between two immortal clans, is slated for release on Feb. 22, 2013 in the U.S. Lionsgate is set to distribute the film in the U.S., while Lakeshore Entertainment will handle international sales and E1/Hopscotch will distribute in Asutralia.
3/29/11 - Stuart Beattie has come aboard the Lakeshore Entertainment project I, Frankenstein as writer and director. The filmmakers are looking to a fall shoot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A Darkstorm Studios graphic novel created by Kevin Grevioux, I, Frankenstein pictures a modern-day world where the classic literary monster stands between humans and a host of other supernatural creatures looking to rise up and take over. Gary Lucchesi, Tom Rosenberg and Richard Wright are producing I, Frankenstein for Lakeshore. Grevioux will serve as an executive producer.
2/2/10 - Lakeshore is readying what it hopes will be its next action-horror franchise, I, Frankenstein, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The company has preemptively picked up the script for the comic book adaptation from Death Ray Films, which began developing the project in April. It's based on a comic from Underworld co-creator Kevin Grevioux, who wrote the script for Frankenstein, and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans helmer Patrick Tatopoulos is attached to direct. The project brings together classic monster characters -- including the Frankenstein monster, the Invisible Man, Dracula and the Hunchback of Notre Dame -- in a contemporary film noir setting. The monster has evolved; he has learned how to control his anger and is a private investigator. Dracula, meanwhile, is a crime kingpin. The story sees the monster as the only thing standing between the human race and an uprising of supernatural creatures.
