6/8/09 - Film
School Rejects reports that James Cameron, David Fincher, Zack Snyder
and Gore Verbinski are all on board to direct segments of a new Heavy
Metal movie. Quoting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator
Kevin Eastman, the site reported that Fincher and Cameron will also be
co-executive producers on the film. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from
Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film, Eastman
reportedly said. Three other directors have agreed but aren't signed
yet, he added. The movie is a reboot of the original 1981 Canadian
animated film, from executive producer Leonard Mogel, who was also the
publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, the adult fantasy publication.
The original
film was an anthology of various science fiction and fantasy stories
adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the
same spirit.
0Paramount Pictures will make an animated film inspired
by the '70s SF fantasy magazine Heavy Metal, with director David
Fincher. Heavy Metal will be stamped by the erotic and violent
storylines and images that remain the trademark of a magazine that
debuted in the United States in 1977. The film will consist of eight or
nine individual animated segments, each of which will be headed by a
different director. |
