Endangered Species

7/10/09 – SCI FI Wire reported that Eli Roth has epic ambitions for his next foray behind the cameras. "I'm finishing my script for Endangered Species, which I'm very, very excited about," Roth said. "I saw Transformers and Cloverfield, and I want to do a movie like that. I want to do my version of a PG-13 action/sci-fi/mass-destruction film, my way, with my ideas.  Directorially, I'm really excited about doing a PG-13 action/sci-fi movie like Jurassic Park—something big with lots of chaos and lots of destruction.  And then, by the time I'm done with that, I'll be like, 'OK, enough of the PG-13.' I'll be hungry for gore."  Roth confessed that he has a number of horror-themed projects lined up in the near future, even if he isn't necessarily going to direct all of them. "I still have other horror movies in mind, but there are other genres that I'm dying to explore," he said. "I mean, I'd love to do Thanksgiving as well; I love horror movies, and I just produced a fantastic movie called Cotton that's editing right now. Now me and my partner are going to be producing a remake of Funhouse, which we think is going to be really, really fun and totally bloody and incredibly violent. But even if I'm not directing, I'll always have some horror movie going; that's my first love."

4/17/09 - Eli Roth told MTV.com that he's developing a new epic sci-fi movie.  "I'm almost done with my new script," Roth said.  Roth wouldn't say much about the movie, not even its name. "I don't want to give away the title yet, because I have to make sure I own it 100 percent, but it's going to be something that is really fun, with lots of mass destruction," he said. "I wanted to do something along the lines of Transformers or Cloverfield that was a little more science fiction-based, and with lots of chaos and mass destruction."  Roth admitted one thing: It will have a monster. "I don't want to say what yet," he said. "Once it gets set up, I will let everyone know. It is not aliens or robots or a virus; it's a little more grounded. But when people hear it, they are going to be like, 'That is going to be insane!'"
