Daredevil (remake)

6/8/11 - Fox is looking at a reboot of Daredevil again, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Brad Caleb Kane has been hired to pen the franchise’s relaunch.  David Slade is developing and attached to direct the new Daredevil movie. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark of Chernin Entertainment are producing.  Kane is a Daredevil fan, and his energy and passion for the material helped him nab the job, according to insiders.

3/15/11 - David Slade is in talks to develop and direct the new Daredevil movie, being made by 20th Century Fox and Regency, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark of Chernin Entertainment are producing.  The new story line will be the adaptation of the Frank Miller-written and David Mazzucchelli-illustrated Born Again run of the comic series, which saw the Kingpin of Crime learn the identity of the superhero and begin to systematically destroy his life.  The project has no writer at this stage although the studio says it is aiming to make a movie that continues the story begun by the 2003 Ben Affleck movie. Affleck is not involved in the new project.

2/8/10 – SCI FI Wire reported that Daredevil, Marvel's blind superhero, will get a chance on the big screen again.  David Scarpa will be writing the screenplay for the new Daredevil film, which will be released by New Regency and produced by former News Corp. president Peter Chernin.  Why is this all happening now? It all comes down to a case of—use it or lose it. Any Hollywood studios with Marvel superheros need to keep bringing those characters to the screen or else the rights will revert back to Disney-based Marvel.
