and Legendary Pictures' Clash of the Titans remake, joining a
cast that includes Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes,
Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Jason Flemyng, Alexa Davalos and
Izabella Miko, according to The Hollywood Reporter; the Louis
Leterrier-directed action-adventure began shooting Monday outside

4/9/09 - Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes will play warring gods in
Clash of the Titans, the remake of the Greek-god epic to be
directed by Louis Leterrier, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Neeson is playing Zeus, the wise yet sometimes ill-tempered king of
the gods and father of Perseus (Sam Worthington). Fiennes will play
Hades, ruler of the underworld, who aims to overtake Zeus and rule
over all. The two actors join Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and
Alexa Davalos in the production, which begins shooting later this
month in the United Kingdom.
4/1/09 - Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos have been
cast in Clash of the Titans, the Greek-god epic being
directed by Louis Leterrier, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Mikkelsen will be playing Draco, a skilled fighter and leader of the
Praetorian Guard who accompanies Perseus. Davalos is Andromeda, the
captured princess, and Arterton is Io, who is instrumental in
bringing the winged horse Pegasus to Perseus. Filming begins in the
U.K. at the end of April, with an eye on a 2010 release.
3/30/09 - Empire magazine reported that Gemma Arterton is set
to star as the demi-goddess Io in Louis Leterrier's upcoming remake
of Clash of the Titans. According to Arterton, the remake of
the 1981 Harry Hamlin fantasy movie differs from the original.
"Obviously the story is the story, but it's much more about Perseus'
mission and how he deals with being the son of Zeus and things like
that, so it feels a little more about him and about the issues
around that," she said. Sam Worthington is on board as Perseus,
while Liam Neeson was supposedly offered the role of Zeus.
11/6/08 - Relativity Media is negotiating with Henry Cavill to star
as Theseus in the Tarsem Singh-directed War of the Gods,
while Warner Brothers is in talks with Sam Worthington to play the
role of Perseus in helmer Louis Leterrier's similarly themed
Clash of the Titans remake, Variety reported. Deals for
both actors are expected to be worked out, keeping the Greek
mythology-themed projects on a parallel track. Both films are
expected to begin production by late winter or early spring. The
projects have different plots, but each film will be made for under
$100 million because the visual effects will be accomplished using
the green-screen techniques that made 300 so visually
arresting. Clash of the Titans is a remake of the 1981 film
that tells the story of Zeus' son, Perseus, and his journey and
battles against Medusa. Scripted by Lawrence Kasdan, the Warner film
is a co-production with Legendary Pictures, produced by Basil Iwanyk
of Thunder Road and Kevin De La Noy.
6/27/08 - Warner Brothers is readying a remake of Clash of the
Titans. The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier
will helm Lawrence Kasdan's script of Clash of the Titans.
Warner essentially gave a green light to Clash of the Titans
right after landing Leterrier. Clash of the Titans centers
on Perseus, the son of Zeus, who must overcome a series of obstacles
to save his beloved Princess Andromeda, including cutting off the
serpent-tressed head of Medusa, who can turn a man to stone with a
single glance. The original 1981 Clash of the Titans starred
Harry Hamlin as Perseus and Laurence Olivier as Zeus but is best
remembered for Ray Harryhausen's visual effects, which brought to
life Medusa, the Kraken and other creatures.
12/17/07 - Steve Norrington will direct Clash of the Titans,
a remake of the 1981 mythical adventure that is best remembered for
Ray Harryhausen's special effects.
12/31/06 -
Lawrence Kasdan has been asked to write a remake of Clash of the
Titans for Warner Brothers. A remake of the 1981 cult classic,
the story revolves around Zeus' son, Perseus, and his journey to
save Princess Andromeda, capture Pegasus and slay Medusa.
