01/28/08 - Director Kimberly Peirce said recently that she is eager to
bring Arthur C. Clarke's classic SF novel Childhood's End to the
big screen. "I love Childhood's End," Peirce said. "That's a
phenomenal book. We have a draft of that, and we'll see if Universal
wants to make it." The book, published in 1953, deals with the arrival
of aliens, called Overlords, who bring an unprecedented era of peace and
harmony to Earth. But with a catch: They look like humanity's conception
of the devil himself, with leathery wings, pointed tails and horns. |
