06/16/08 - AMC is developing Carter Beats the Devil, a drama about a mysterious magician, as part of its new slate of drama projects.  Carter Beats the Devil, written by Wesley Strick, is based on the fanciful novel about 1920s magician Charles Carter and his role in the death of President Warren Harding.  Originally developed as a feature film--with Tom Cruise rumored to be attached--Carter eventually made its way to the small screen under executive producers John Baldecchi and Rich Silverman. Carter is based on the book by Glen David Gold, who's serving as a consultant.
