Captain America: Winter Soldier (aka Captian America 2)

4/8/13 - Marvel studio unveiled final cast and plot details for the sequel. Robert Redford has joined the film as Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. The pic is also bumping up Scarlett Johansson‘s role as her Avengers character Natasha Romanoff teams with Captain America in the present day to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, DC. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely’s script and have filled out their supporting cast with returning Marvel actors and new faces: Sebastian Stan is back as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, along with Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Toby Jones as Arnim Zola. Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), and Maximiliano Hernandez (Agent Jasper Sitwell) return, joined by Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow, and Georges St-Pierre as Georges Batroc. 3/22/13 - Robert Redford will join Captain America: The Winter Soldier.   He will play a member of the leadership of super agency S.H.I.E.L.D.  Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be directed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo.  Source: TheWrap.com

 

2/1/13 - Marvel Studios added Emily VanCamp to play Sharon Carter, the female lead, which is said to pick up in Marvel multi-verse where The Avengers left off. VanCamp’s character will be romancing Steve Rogers. Addition cast were confirmed. Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson steps in a Black Widow, Colbie Smulders plays Maria Hill, Toby Jones will portray Arnim Zola, and Sebastian Stan will play Bucky Barnes, Captain America’s former friend who has been transformed into the villainous Winter Soldier. 10/30/12 - Frank Grillo will square off against Chris Evans in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  The actor will play Crossbones, the leader of New York City's Savage Crims gang, who then joins forces with the Red Skull.  Also appearing in the Marvel sequel are Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson and Anthony Mackie, who is playing The Falcon. Source: Variety

 

7/16/12 - Anthony Mackie is in negotiations to star alongside Chris Evans in the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger, which is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Plot details are being kept under wraps but the subtitle suggests a respected comic book storyline from the 2000s that resurrected Captain America's sidekick Bucky as a brain-washed super assassin known as the Winter Solider.  While Marvel would not comment nor divulge character details, it is believed that Mackie will portray the Falcon.

 

7/13/12 - Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige revealed the full titles of the sequels to Thor and Captain America as Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: Winter Soldier at Comic-Con.  The Thor sequel is scheduled for release on Nov. 18, 2013 followed by the Captain America sequel on April 4, 2014.

 

6/8/12 - Anthony and Joe Russo are close to finalizing a deal to direct the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger for Marvel Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.   Joe Johnston directed the first Captain America installment, starring Chris Evans.

 

4/5/12 - Captain America: First Avenger 2 will hit theaters April 4, 2014.  Walt Disney Studios, which will release the movie for Marvel Studios, announced the date Thursday.
