10/2/08 - Bruce Davison told SCI FI Wire that he stars in Camp Hope,
a horror film in which he plays a religious leader who conjures up the
devil himself. Davison--who first came to fame in the rat horror movie
Willard--is probably best known among SF genre fans as the
liquidated Senator Kelly from X-Men and X2. In
Camp
Hope,
"the devil entity crosses over the line and becomes a sort of
manifestation of the guy, and that's sort of what I thought Willard
would be, that the rats would be more a manifestation of the guy and his
anger. We all need a bad guy, and that is what is needed in this world,
because of what is going on in the world today." Although his character
is called "The Priest," Davison said the cult is more of a Jesuit-like
group that believes in exorcisms and spiritual beings. "I am head of the
camp,
Camp
Hope,
but not necessarily the head of the cult," he said. "It will be a great
project when it comes together." The original release date for
Camp Hope
was to be late this summer, but it has been pushed to early 2009.
Camp
Hope
is written and directed by George Van Buskirk and also stars Dana
Delaney, Andrew McCarthy, Jesse Eisenberg and Spencer Treat Clark. |
