Boilerplate 7/29/10 - J.J. Abrams picked up the rights to Boilerplate, the story of a Victorian Age mechanical man who fought alongside Pancho Villa and Teddy Roosevelt before vanishing at the end of WWI. Boilerplate: History's Mechanical Marvel is a heavily illustrated picture book created by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett that tells the tale of the robot of the same name by inserting it into historical documents. Guinan first introduced the concept on his website more than a decade ago and eventually published a book about the character last year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount picked up the rights for an adaptation to be produced by Abrams. It's way too early to know whether Abrams will have a hand in writing or directing.
