Apollo 18 12/14/10 - The Weinstein Co's sci-fi project Apollo 18 has landed in Vancouver for a local studio shoot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is slated to be lensed on a tight schedule from Dec. 20 through Jan. 13, 2011, for a March theatrical release date. Shawn Williamson of Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures is executive producing the "found footage" project by Spanish director GonzaloLopez-Gallego. Timur Bekmambetov and Michele Wolkoff, president of development for Bekmambetov Projects, are producing Apollo 18, which was scripted by Brian Miller. Also executive producing Apollo 18 are Ron Schmidt and Cody Zweig.
11/19/10 - Director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego will replace Trevor Cawood on the Weinstein Co.'s sci-fi thriller Apollo 18. TWC scooped up worldwide rights two weeks ago to the Timur Bekmambetov-produced Apollo 18 and shopped the project at AFM. The film's on a fast track with a March 4 release date already set. Apollo 18, scripted by Brian Miller, is set to be shot documentary style and purports to include lost footage from Apollo 18's undocumented and covert mission to the moon, revealing disturbing new evidence of other life forms. (In reality, Apollo 17 was NASA's final Apollo mission.) Bekmambetov is producing "Apollo 18" with Michele Wolkoff, prexy of development at Bekmambetov Projects.
