5/17/11 - Variety reported that Rob Edwards has been brought onboard to script a pair of high-profile pics: Warner Bros. Amulet and Disney's Animated American.  Will Smith and his producing partner James Lassiter will produce Amulet through their Overbrook Entertainment shingle.  The film is based on the graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi and follows a teenage boy and his sister, who are pulled into a mystical world of demons, monsters and talking animals and discover that they are the last in a line of gatekeepers who must quickly learn to control a powerful amulet to save the world.  Animated American will be produced by Robert Zemeckis, Bob Cooper and to Dan Fogelman, and revolves around an animated baby raised by a live-action family until his 18th birthday, when he decides to find his real family with the help of his friend and her jealous boyfriend.
