Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho

04/19/12 - In full makeup for the film Hitchcock, Anthony Hopkins is hardly recognizable, bearing a striking resemblance to the famous filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, according to Movie Talk.  Hopkins plays the auteur—known for his mastery of suspense in cinema— in the film due out in theaters in 2013, which also stars Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh and James D'Arcy as Anthony Perkins.  Earlier this week, Ralph Macchio was announced as part of the cast. He is set to play "Psycho" screenwriter Joe Stefano.

12/8/11 - After four years in development at Paramount, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho will be set up at Fox Searchlight, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Anthony Hopkins is attached to play Hitchcock.  Sacha Gervasi is directing.  Helen Mirren will play the filmmaker's wife, Alma Reville.  Montecito Picture Co. remains on board as producer.  The project is based on the non-fiction book by Stephen Rebello that tracks how Hitchcock, at the height of his game as a director, decided to make a "lowly" horror movie. No studio wanted to touch it initially, so Hitchcock scrounged for financing by himself. The movie, of course, became one of his biggest hits and one of the most influential of all time.  At the center of the script by John McLaughlin and Rebello is the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife.
