Superpowers: A Novel

Good

The only thing is the author tries to make the story non-fiction by accounting real events throughout.  Kind of dumb in that regard.

Book Review of Jason Schimschal's New Book

Prophet of Sorrow: Book 4 of the Darken Realm Series

Mr. Schimaschal delivers an outstanding fourth Darken Realm novel, Prophet of Sorrow.  In a post-apocalyptic world, a war rages on.  A crazed mercenary, a former priestess of evil, and two tribesmen with their own unique skills continue their journey in search of the ultimate weapon, a weapon of mass destruction from a distant time.  Upon their discovery, a new foe, the product from the same distant past, brings a whole new meaning to fear and madness.  The adventure never ceases in Prophet of Sorrow.  From beginning to end, Mr. Schimaschal keeps the excitement on full throttle.  He dove into the background and motivation for some of the supporting characters.  Sometime this can cause a story to stray but Schimaschal pulls it off really well.  The secondary storylines have purpose and help drive the story forward.  Overall, an excellent and enjoyable story.

Book Ratings Explained:

As of now, I am implementing a new book review key.  I love reading books but hate writing reviews.  I don't mind writing a review when asked.  It's just that I read books for personal enjoyment and I want to share those experiences here, however I simply don't have the time to write a full review for every book.  I'm also finding that all the books that I do review fall into one of three categories.  Therefore, going forward, I'm keeping reviews short.  Below is a key to help understand the ratings.

Ratings:

Excellent - An excellent book overall because it's a story that tries something new or does something old really, really well.  The author is an excellent writer and makes you care about the characters.  At the end of the book, you'll wish there was more to read.  It's a book you should buy, add to your collection, and maybe even read again.  Get it!

Good - This rating means the book was good, not great or excellent just good.  The author is reliable and you may read other books by him/her.  The story may not win any awards but was entertaining nevertheless.  It's probably a book you will want to own especially if it fits within your favorite genre.  The End!

Sucks - This rating means the book sucked.  For me, it's likely I couldn't finish it or regret that I did.  The plot was bad, the writing was poor, slow moving, too much detail, and I don't care.  You probably wouldn't want to own it, rather you may rent from a library or buy it on the cheap on Ebay.
